The Hot Tub Circus is in Town. Why Buying at a Hot Tub Expo is Not the Best Idea.

If you've been looking into getting a new hot tub for a while and are on social media, you've probably seen an advertisement or commercial for a Huge Hot Tub Expo in the past few months. These "events" pop up throughout the year at places like convention centers and fairgrounds. They advertise huge savings with several brands on display, dozens of tubs, all competing for your business. We have a few things for you to think about before you buy at one of these circuses.

The best, most reputable brands in the hot tub industry will ALWAYS be sold by local dealers, in brick-and-mortar stores. The hot tubs that are being sold at these "shows" are tubs that are normally not sold in Atlanta already.  Most of the time it's actually just one manufacturer doing the show too.  There's normally a reason that these brands aren't sold in a huge hot tub market like Atlanta. You can usually go to a local dealer and ask them about the tubs that are being sold at this show and get an idea of why they're not sold here in Atlanta. Quality, service, and warranty are the most common reasons that you'll hear at a local dealer.

Because most of the "shows" are only 3-4 days long, are in large facilities that cost a lot, and have several dozens of units that have been shipped in, the salespeople are usually VERY aggressive in trying to get you to buy "today".  It is their job to sell you by making you think that you just got a GREAT deal, but they usually aren't a great deal at all. Just check a local dealer and you'll see that.

Also, once the event is over, they're gone. Then what? Who do you deal with if you have questions or have issues? As stated earlier, the manufacturer. That's not always that easy and can take a long time. And sometimes you'll just be out of luck.

In summary, the next Hot Tub Expo that comes around will probably be too good to be true. However, if you do actually go make sure to ask about warranties, about who will take care of you afterward, about how to get your deposit back if you cancel. Then come to Basements and Backyards and see what actual really good prices and service are. We'll see you soon.
