What to Look For When Buying a New Hot Tub. Who is Going to be Using Your New Hot Tub?

Because we've been selling hot tubs for such a long time, we often get asked what to look for when buying a new hot tub or replacing an old tub. Seems like it should be easy to answer, but it may not be.  Over the next few blog entries, we will go over some of things that we discuss when asked about this when we have visitors to our showrooms.

Who is going to be using the new hot tub?

Now this question can be tricky. This isn't just about the number of people getting in the new hot tub. It's also a question about if there are going to be taller or shorter people in the tub.  Are there going to be children or elderly folks getting in. Is anyone handicapped that will be using the new hot tub? Do your pets use the hot tub? All of these are legitimate, sometimes interesting, things to consider when searching for your new hot tub.

More often than not, our customers come in and state that they're looking for a 4-5-seater hot tub. If you think that you will consistently be having 4-5 people enjoying the hot tub all of the time, then you may need a larger tub. If you realistically only need to seat 1-2 people the majority of the time, then maybe a smaller hot tub will fit your needs. If younger children or shorter adults are going to be using the tub often then seating height in the hot tub is important.  The same goes true for taller individuals.  If older folks or handicapped individuals are going to be using the tub you want to make sure that nobody is going to get hurt when entering/exiting or moving around in the hot tub.

Keep in mind, a larger tub will allow you to stretch out and float around a little more than if you get a smaller tub. A larger tub will oftentimes be a little easier to move around in, which may be important for those that have a hard time moving around.

Listen, if you don't need a bigger tub, don't get one. Bigger isn't always better, it's just bigger. With that said, the difference in price to go from a smaller tub to a bigger tub with the same equipment can be much lower than you may think.

Whatever size hot tub that you get, we want to make sure that the hot tub that you choose is the perfect hot tub for YOUR needs, not ours.
